Mayor Gamec said the Lions Club should get together with City Staff
on the size of the letters.
Motion by Councilman Sorteberg and seconded by Councilman Mickelson
to accept the bulletin board sign for City Hall and thank the Lions
Club and give them authorization to proceed with installation.
Motion carried. Voting yes -Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Sorteberg, Reimann,
Mickelson and Cox. Voting no -None.
Mr. Hovland said the bottom part of the sign will be ten feet off
the ground, and the top part will be 17 feet in the air.
Councilman Cox asked how the city would handle the lighting.
Mayor Gamec said the city would have to take care of the lighting.
Councilman Cox asked how many letters came with the sign.
Mr. Hovland said about 300 letters came with the sign, which would
probably be more than is ever needed.
The locations of the directory signs to the commercial and industrial
districts in Ramsey would be: 1) Highway 47 & Industrial Boulevard,
2) Sunfish Lake Boulevard and 3) Ramsey Boulevard.
Mr. Hovland said the height of the signs is 18 feet with steel posts.
The cost is $1500 /sign.
Mayor Gamec suggested going ahead and adding this project to next
years budget.
Councilman Cox said it would not have to be paid for at this time
because the city can put in half now and the other half later.
Mayor Gamec said he thought it was a good idea and the city pays
for the frame work and the businesses pay for their name on it.
Mr. Hovland said they could go around and contact the businesses.
The cost of the frame work would be around 50% of the total cost.
Councilman Cox said he felt it should be done this fall.
Councilman Reimann suggested putting one up this year and working into
next year.
Motion by Councilman Cox and seconded by Councilman Sorteberg to
contract with Mr. Hovland to put up frame this fall at a cost of not
over $2,000.
Motion denied. Voting yes - Councilmen Sorteberg and Cox. Voting no-
Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Reimann and Mickelson.
Mayor Gamec said he would hate to have pillars stand there with no
business sign on it. He would like to wait until next year.
C /September 23, 1980
Page 9
