Councilmember Pearson stated part of the increase in robberies in Anoka County was due to the <br />change in meth-amphetamine use. Many people are now stealing tools and property, and trying <br />to raise money that way because it is easier to buy the meth-amphetamine than to make it. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated Patrol Officer Gina Wieler spoke at a Rotary meeting, and he received <br />several comments from people that really appreciated the time and education they received. <br /> <br />Police Chief Way stated the Police Department has received requests based on Officer Wieler's <br />discussion to have her visit businesses to discuss these issues. <br /> <br />Case #2: <br /> <br />Public Hearing and Levy Special Assessment for Improvement Project 02-40 <br />Sanitary Sewer Watermain and Storm Sewer Improvements to Oak Terrace <br />Estates Mobile Home Park <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec closed the regular portion of the City Council meeting at 7:26 p.m. in order to <br />conduct a public hearing. <br /> <br />Public Hearing <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the public hearing to order at 7:26 p.m. <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Assistant Public Works Director Olson indicated in order to meet notification requirements, it is <br />necessary to cancel the public heating scheduled for tonight. The action before the Council <br />tonight is to adopt a resolution re-advertising the public hearing for March 14, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. <br />in order to meet notification requirements, and to adopt a resolution declaring cost to be assessed <br />and ordering preparation of proposed assessment for Improvement Project #02-40. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec inquired if the mobile home park has been notified of this public hearing and <br />special assessments. <br /> <br />Assistant Public Works Director Olson replied staff has spoken with the mobile home park, but <br />he is not certain if they are familiar with the action that will be taken. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Jeffrey, to cancel the public <br />hearing on proposed assessment for Improvement Project #02-40 scheduled for February 14, <br />2006 at 7:00 p.m., due to notification issues. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Cook, Jeffrey, Elvig, Olson, and <br />Pearson. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Strommen. <br /> <br />The public hearing was canceled at 7:29 p.m. <br /> <br />City Council / February 14, 2006 <br />Page 8 of 26 <br /> <br /> <br />
