opinion that such a proposal has the potential to benefit both communities and therefore we would
like to bring this to the joint Councils for your feedback and with a positive preliminary response,
would like to provide for additional meetings to review this proposal further.

CASE #5

WATERSHED MANAGEMENT
By: Ryan R. Schroeder, City Administrator

Background:

In the past few years, watershed management has become a big issue in the State of Minnesota and
in fact it is mandated that all cities belong to at least one watershed management organization
(WMO). Since the Cities of Anoka and Ramsey belong to the same WMO, there may be issues
related to the watershed which members of the two Councils would like to address. Staff would
like to suggest that this meeting, given time, may be an appropriate forum for that.

CASE #6

OTHER BUSINESS
By: Ryan R. Schroeder, City Administrator

Background:

The current fiscal crisis experienced by the State of Minnesota and handed down to local
jurisdictions has provided an impetus for cities to reevaluate their individual operations. Because
of this, and because of joint concerns that have arisen due to the geography of this area (vis-a-vis,
joint boundaries between Anoka and Ramsey), this meeting of the joint Councils has occurred.
Staff would like to suggest that there may be several other areas which should receive the review of
the joint Councils. We are anxious to hear your ideas, open to conducting whatever level of
research is necessary to evaluate Council proposals and therefore would like to set an agenda for
future meetings which we would propose should occur in a fairly regular manner. What are your
suggestions?
