TO: City Administrator

FR~: Public Works Superintendent

P~E: Drainage problems in Ramsey in 1980

DATE: November 5, 1980

In the spring of 1980, we had several drainage problems and I marked them
on a rap so we could try to correct most of them but there are some that
we can't do anything about without drainage easements and some will need
storm sewer. I have the trouble areas marked on the map and numbered one
through 60 and I will go through each one individually to explain the pro-
blem and the correction if possible.
1) Zuni Street south of 153rd - this is a low area in Gorham's Sandy
Acres in the middle of the block and will require storm sewer to correct
the problem. It doesn't flood any houses.
2 & 3) Waco and Xkimo Street south of 153rd - this is the same situation
as Zuni Street in Gorham's old unplatted area and will require storm sewer
also and this does flood basements.
4) 150th & Yakima - this is also in Gorham's and there was a plugged culvert
at this intersection. We cleaned the culvert.
5) 153rd between Highway #47 & Roanoke - this is two catch basins that froze
in the spring because of warm days and cold nights and not enough fall away
from the outlets. We cleaned both outlets and hopefully the water will drain
before it freezes.
6) Barium Street north of 153rd - This was more of a washing problem on both
hills leading to the low area. This street was blacktopped this su3mner and
should take care of the problem.
7) 155th Lane east of Barium - This is a low lot that water drains to from
several lots and has no where to go. We removed-a culvert from 154th Lane
so he won't get water from Halland Acres but I think there probably still
will be a problem with a fast spring thaw.
8) Juamiper Ridge Drive - This is a catch basin that froze in the spring due
'to weather conditions.
9) Flintwood Hills - This is a poor drainage area that will be corrected
when Flintwood Hills Second Addition goes in.

10) Ramsey Terrace - This is the first year that I have seen any water in
this area and I think it was because of the fast thaw.
