Citizen Input Continued: councilman Cox stated he would like to make the following statement as a citizen of the City of Ramsey: In regard to the Anoka area hockey association meeting, Mayor Gamec in his opinion was extremely dishonest, did not present all the facts, supported ice users spending money for facility that they shouldn't have to, the action taken by the Mayor would be considered by other government bodies to be guilty of treason to taxpayers and citizens of Ramsey, did not indicate tax dollars spent to this point for project in Ramsey, stated he represented Ramsey City Council in his statements that were untrue, made statements contrary to E.D.C. position, made statements regardless of the committment to developers that donated land for Highway 47, bridge crossing and recreational facility, did not mention 57.5 million in added tax base potential in connection with the school district, and the potential countless uses of the river, energy conservation by Rmmsey citizens and 1050 estimated ftull time jobs were not mentioned. CouncillnaI1 Cox further stated the Ramsey area residents are treated like second class citizens. They are being taxed out of business, don't get the fair share of local aid, however they receive a new cOuuty jail, a parking lot, the state hospital, landfills and metro smd state mandates to waste Ramsey monies. Councilman Cox stated "Let's get the horse before the cart.o.obtain local aids first...want champagne parks on a beer income. Comucilman Cox suggested sending a position letter to the hockey association indicating what this will do for Ramsey area, the county and school system, indicating our position to proceed with the arena and urging county support of the project. Mayor Gamec stated at the meeting he stated Ramsey's position on the proposed arena project. He stated Ramsey wo~ld be going ahead with their proposed project regardless of what the Anoka Hockey Association did. The association wanted to know if B~msey was going ahead with the project and what type of funding or grants were available. He further stated all Ramsey csm do is give its input. Ramsey's goal smd set up are different, the association wants low cost ice time, we are looking for a full facility. Councilman Cox again stated his dissatisfaction and had no further input. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Motion by Councilman Reimarm and seconded by CouncilwomauVanWagner to approve the agenda with addendum and addition of number 9 under new business. Motion carried. Voting yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilman Sorteberg, Councilman Reimann, Councilman Cox, Councilwoman VanWagner. Voting no: None. A. MINUTES FORAPPROVAL 1.
