April 7, 1981

Mr. Lloyd Schnelle
City Administrator
Post Office Box
Anoka, Minnesota 55303

Subject: Proposed Ramsey Airport

Dear Mr. Schnelle:

With completion of the alternate Airport Site Study Phase II, you have
questioned what should be the next step. If the Lake Itasca (General
Mills) site is the site preferred by the City of Rmmsey, it should be
so designated.

With the preferred airport site selected, we would agree with the
consultants study recommendation. The recommendation states, "At this
point, the City of Ramsey should make a serious and determined effort
to meet with the property owners, the General Mills Company, in an
attempt to gain their support and cooperation and to, then, develop
an airport facility to compliment the comprehensive plans of both
parties."

We have submitted a copy of the Airport Site Study Phase II to the FAA
for their review. When the study has been reviewed and property owners
comments are know~, the next steps would be to determine runway alignment,
prepare a conceptual Airport Layout Plan, prepare Preliminary Engineering
Study with soil borings and the Environmental Impact Assessment Report.

I understand you havK also contacted the Metropolitan Airports Commission,
and the Metropolitan Council for their comments and action as necessary.

erely,~

Dean C.
