Categories of hazardous waste <br />materials include, but are not limited to: explosives, flammables, <br />oxidizers, poisons, irritants and corrosives. <br /> <br />"Hazardous waste management" means the systematic control of the <br />collection, source separation, storage, transportation, processing, <br />treatment, recovery and disposal of hazardous wastes. <br /> <br />"Incinerator ash" is the solid residue left after the burning of <br />Sewage sludge. ' -- ' · - . __ <br /> <br /> "Industrial solid waste" is solid waste resultin9 from industrial <br /> processes an~ manufacturi~. <br /> <br />"Intrinsic suitability- of a land area or site means that, because of <br />the inherent and natural attributes, physical features, and location <br />of the land area or site, the waste facility proposed to be located <br />in the area or site would not be likely to result in material harm to <br />the public health and safety and natural resources and that there- <br />fore, the proposed facility can reasonably be expected to' qualify for <br />permits in accordance with MPCA rules. <br /> <br />"Leachate" is water that has percolated through, or has been in <br />contact with, solid wastes and contains waste constituents removed <br />from the solid wastes. <br /> <br />"Local governmental unit" means any municipal corporation or <br />governmental subdivision other than a metropolitan county located in <br />whole or part in the Metropolitan Area, authorized by law to provide <br />for the processing of solid waste (Minnesota Statutes Section <br />473.802). , <br /> <br /> "Metropolitan Area" or "Region" means the area over which the <br /> Metropolitan Council has jurisdiction, including the counties of <br /> Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott and Washington <br /> (Minnesota Statutes, Section 473.121). <br /> <br /> "Metropolitan counties" or "counties" refers to the seven counties of <br /> Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott and Washington. <br /> <br /> "Metropolitan Council" or "Council" means the Metropolitan Council <br /> established by Minnesota Statutes, Section 473.121. <br /> <br /> "Metropolitan Urban Service Area" is the portion of the Metropolitan <br />Area in which urban development or redevelopment exists or is planned. <br /> <br />"Mixed municipal solid waste" means ~ refuse, and other solid <br />waste 'f~om residential, commercial, ' " <br /> Industrial and commun'ity act~-~- <br />tl~--~--~-_s whl--~ is generated ~nd collected in aggregate, but does not <br />include aut6~h'ulks, street sweepings, ~-~h construcfi~--~--de--~sT~inina <br />waste, 'sludge~--, -t~e' a-~-~ ~g~icultural wastes, tires, an~ o-~ mate-' <br />rials collected,'processed and dispose~ of as ~eparate waste streams. <br /> <br />"Municipality" means a city created by or pursuant to state law. <br /> <br /> <br />
