PC CASE # <br /> <br />CONSIDER AUTHORIZATION TO HIRE A <br />PARKS MAINTENANCE WORKER <br /> <br />By: Givonna Reed, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />As part of the 2006 budget, the City Council authorized the creation of one new Public <br />Works Streets Maintenance Worker position. This position was filled internally by a <br />Parks Maintenance Worker. The City Council granted staffauthorization to fill the Parks <br />Maintenance Worker position and that position was advertised. Staff received 250 <br />applications for the Parks Maintenance Worker position and interviewed 15 applicants. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff is recommending that the Personnel Committee grant authorization to hire a Parks <br />Maintenance Worker at an hourly wage of $17.01. Upon City Council approval, the <br />selected applicant's start date will be April 24, 2006. Staff will bring forward the name <br />of the selected applicant for ratification at a future City Council meeting, upon receipt of <br />satisfactory pm-employment physical and drag test results. The City is in receipt of all <br />other background check results and all results are satisfactory. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br /> <br />Motion recommending that staff be granted authorization to hire a Parks <br />Maintenance Worker at an hourly wage of $17.01 with a starting date of April 24, <br />2006. <br /> <br />Pending approval of Committee Action # 1 and receipt of satisfactory pre- <br />employment physical and drug test results, staff will bring forward the name of <br />the selected candidate at a future City Council meeting for ratification. <br /> <br />PC: 04-11-06 <br /> <br />-263- <br /> <br /> <br />
