POLICY BOARD BUSINESS <br /> <br />Chairman McDilda asked for further discussion regarding the Functions and Values report. He <br />asked about timing for the ground proofing. <br /> <br />Coordinator Anderson stated that PEC would conduct the ground-proofing this spring, weather <br />permitting. It would be after this that PEC would present the final results to the EPB. He stated <br />that the EPB will have an oppommity to ask questions at that time. He asked the EPB members <br />to submit questions to him prior to the meeting so PEC can come prepared to answer them. <br /> <br />Chairperson McDilda suggested that further discussion regarding classification of Trott Brook <br />could be included as an agenda item for the EPB meeting in April and called for a motion. No <br />motion was heard. <br /> <br />Board Member Freeburg asked if it would be possible to join the consultants on one of their days <br />in the field. Coordinator Anderson stated that he would check with them and report back to <br />Board Member Freeburg. <br /> <br />Board Member Max asked if the Fire Wise Program could be added to the next EPB meeting <br />agenda with Enviromnental Specialist Bacon reporting. Environmental Specialist Bacon stated <br />he would be willing to report at the next EPB meeting. <br /> <br />Board Member Max passed out three handouts consisting of reports about issues going to the <br />State Legislature; copies of an article entitled Minnesota Trees Are Under Attack; and the <br />Minnesota Conservation Volunteer with an article entitled Money Grows on Trees. <br /> <br />Case #1: Finalize 2006 Work Plan <br /> <br />Chairperson McDilda provided a draft of the 2006-2007 Environmental Policy Board (EPB) <br />Goals and Objectives. He stated it was his intention to structure the work plan based on a <br />summary of the February 2005 work session and in a manner that corresponds with the City's 5- <br />year goals. He stated he specifically looked for environmental issues on the summary. At the <br />February EPB meeting, discussion regarding the 2006 work plan was tabled until this meeting. <br /> <br />Chairperson McDilda stated that Mr. Bentz had forwarded to him an intemet search looking at <br />ways that would apply to funding for environmental projects in the city. He noted goal number <br />five stating that it would be nice to do some proactive research on applying for grants as one of <br />the 2006 goals. <br /> <br />Board Member Max stated the EPB had discussed a photo contest affiliated with the EXPO. He <br />suggested that be added to the Goals and Objectives. <br /> <br />Board Member Max suggested another item to be added to the Goals and Objectives is to invite <br />the Park Board to the EPB meetings. He stated that might fit into the greenways goal and <br />objective.
