Case #3: <br /> <br />Public Hearing - Request for Interim Use Permit to Allow for the Operation <br />of a Church in the B-1 Employment District; Case of Ramsey Assembly of <br />God <br /> <br />Chairperson Nixt closed the regular portion of the Planning Commission meeting at 8:00 p.m. in <br />order to call the public hearing to order. <br /> <br />Public Hearing <br /> <br />Chairperson Nixt called the public hearing to order at 8:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Assistant Community Development Director Frolik stated the City has received an application <br />for an Interim Use Permit from the Ramsey Assembly of God to allow for the operation of a <br />temporary church facility in an area zoned E-1 Employment District. The temporary chumh <br />facility will be in a multi-tenant building located at 6361 Sunfish Lake Court, Suite 300. <br />(Oakridge Industrial Park). The Applicant would like to be able to utilize the space for office <br />and worship services. <br /> <br />The majority of activity contemplated by the Applicant will occur on Sunday or during the <br />evenings when most of the surrounding businesses are closed. Under City Code, places of <br />assembly require a parking space for every three seats. The Applicant does not have a definite <br />answer to the seating capacity within the proposed site, but stated that the congregation is <br />currently at 45 worshipers. The parking lot that serves the building in which the temporary <br />church will be located has 28 parking stalls. In the event that overflow parking is required, the <br />Applicant is in talks with RDTM Properties (south of the site) to use their parking lot. <br /> <br />Assistant Community Development Director Frolik stated staff recommends that the Interim Use <br />Permit request by the Ramsey Assembly of God to allow for the operation of temporary Church <br />facility in an area zoned E-1 Employment District be granted for a term of five years. <br /> <br />Citizen Input <br /> <br />There was none. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Nixt, seconded by Commissioner Cleveland, to close the public <br />hearing. <br /> <br />Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Nixt, Commissioners Cleveland, Brauer, Hunt, <br />Levine, and Trites Rolle. Voting No: None.
