Further Discussion: Commissioner Nixt felt it wasn't an interim use, it was until the end o£ their
lease. Commissioner Dempsey stated he had visited the site and that the trailer he located had a
sign "Used Cars" on it. He also noted there was a tremendous amount of construction equipment
in the area. He would like staff to advise the Commission of the intended use of the entire
property, and he wondered if indeed he was looking at part of an adjacent parcel.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Anderson, Commissioners Johnson, Nixt, Dempsey,
Jensen, Kociscak, and Wivoda. Voting No: None.

Case #3:

Proposed Ordinance Amending Permitted Uses in R-1 Rural Residential
Zoning Districts

Chairperson Anderson explained there was an earlier public hearing held to consider an
ordinance allowing "public uses" in all zoning districts (to accommodate uses such as fire
stations), at which time the Planning Commission directed that only the R-1R Rural Residential
District be amended to include fire stations. Staff then advised the proposed ordinance could be
amended without the need for an additional public hearing. However, Chairperson Anderson
indicated that notice for a new public hearing has been published and distributed, and therefore,
he will conduct a hearing on the proposed ordinance. He closed the regular portion of the
Planning Commission meeting at 7:15 p.m. in order to conduct the public hearing.

Public Hearing

Chairperson Anderson called the public hearing to order at 7:15 p.m.

Presentation

Planning Consultant Scalzo stated that staff recommends approval of the proposed ordinance
amending Ramsey City Code to allow fire stations in all R-1 Rural Residential Districts.

Chairperson Anderson explained that fire stations are not allowed in any districts, and rather than
.. . ~'orn j~' t
grant a cond~tmnal use permit, ~Jo[~i~ amend Code to allow for them in the R-1 Rural
ResidentialDistricts. t~,.( JOr"O Ol~Son or~ t/~[oo OS per'

Citizen Input

None.

Motion by Commissioner Nixt, seconded by Commissioner Jensen, to close the public hearing.

Motion carried.
