CASE #9

MEMORANDUM

TO:

FROM:

DATE:

SUBJECT:

Ramsey Planning and Zoning Commission
Ramsey Economic Development Commission

Mark S. Banwart, Community Development Director

May 14, 1990

Recodification of Ramsey Sign Ordinance

As you undoubtedly know, portions of the Ramsey Sign Ordinance have not been
enforced. The reasons for the non-enforcement are due to the clarity of the ordinance and
assigned staff time. The Ramsey Community Development Department will shortly be able
to provide the necessary staffing to begin enforcement of the sign ordinance. Before we do
this, it will be necessary to establish sign ordinance enforcement procedures as well as
correcting deficiencies in the sign ordinance.

It is appropriate at this time for the Ramsey Planning and Zoning Commission and the
Ramsey Economic Development Commission to set at least two joint meetings to provide
for public input of the general public as well as, more specifically, the business community
regarding the Ramsey Sign Ordinance.

MSB/jmt
