Citizen Input <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Frolik stated that the neighboring properties have stated that they would be <br />willing to meet in regards to the drainage problems in the area, but also felt that they can manage <br />their own storm water on their own respective parcels. <br /> <br />Motion by Board Member Dempsey, seconded by Board Member Nixt, to close the public <br />hearing. <br /> <br />Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Anderson, Board Members Dempsey, Nixt, Jensen, <br />Johnson, Kociscak, and Wivoda. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />The public hearing closed at 7:12 p.m. <br /> <br />Board Business <br /> <br />Chairperson Anderson called the regular meeting of the Board of Adjustment back to order at <br />7:12 p.m. <br /> <br />Board Member Jensen questioned if the mini-storage will be used by the main tenants of the <br />retail building. <br /> <br />Board Member Nixt questioned how much the structure would have to be reduced in order to <br />maintain the 35 foot rear yard setback. <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Frolik explained that if the depth of the building was reduced in the <br />northwest comer everything could shift to the south. <br /> <br />Chairperson Anderson questioned the reason Staff was recommending denial of the variance <br />request. <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Frolik stated that the hardship cannot be a result of the actions of the <br />applicant and the applicant is attempting to put too much building on the lot to facilitate mini- <br />storage units in addition to the retail center. If the number of mini-storage units were decreased, <br />the setback could be met and the applicant is left with reasonable use of the property. <br /> <br />Board Member Nixt stated that they are not exceeded the size limits of the structure, and that the <br />only visibility of the encroachment would be to the railroad. Zoning Administrator Frolik noted <br />that was correct. <br /> <br />Board Member Johnson questioned if the 20 feet that they are allowing for a future frontage road <br />is a City Code requirement. <br /> <br />Board of Adjustment/September 7, 1999 <br /> Page 4 of 6 <br /> <br /> <br />
