Ms. Snyder noted there are no posted speed limit signs. <br /> <br />Mr. Jankowski rather doubted that the speed would change even if it is posted. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman felt it is up to the City to put up speed limit signs. <br /> <br />Sharon Stott, 6161 - 144th' stated her concern is with 144th and Tungsten Way. There are many <br />kids in the area. <br /> <br />Ms. Snyder stated she has a day care and she felt stop signs would help the speed problem. <br /> <br />Cotmcihnember Zimmerman stated we have talked about this area before. We need to identify <br />the main through streets and allow them to be more free flowing. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works Kapler stated that prior to the next Public Works Committee meeting, <br />we can prioritize the area streets we feel are most important and come up with a recommendation <br />of yield or stop signs. <br /> <br />Ms. Stott inquired if the City would also take into account the population of the area. <br /> <br />Councihnember Zimmennan stated City staff will work on this and he invited the residents to <br />come to the next meeting. <br /> <br />Leah Kaeppe, 6180 - 144"~' asked that the City considers speed limit signs along with the stop <br />and/or yield signs. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen felt that yield signs will increase traffic speeds and he suggested <br />involving the Police Chief in this discussion. He added that this issue should then be put on the <br />next agenda. <br /> <br />Ms. Snyder stated she feels it is important for the City to set expectations by putting speed limit <br />signs up. <br /> <br />Staff stated that there will be speed limit signs on Potassium within a couple of weeks. <br /> <br />Ms. Stott stated that last time this issue was talked about, it was mentioned that the Police <br />Department should patrol this area. <br /> <br />Case #2: C.R. #116 Corridor Study <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski stated that in 1998, the City requested Anoka County to consider a <br />project on C. R. #116 between T.H. #47 and C.R. #56 (Sunfish Lake Boulevard). The City was <br />advised that such a project would be best facilitated by first performing a corridor study, in order <br />to devise both a construction and access management plan for the entire corridor which has been <br />identified by the County to run from CSAH #7 to T.H. #10.
