Councilmember Zimmerman stated that all requests need to be reviewed and listen to the <br />concerns of the neighborhoods. <br /> <br />Councilmember Connolly stated that after reviewing the intersection of 137th Avenue and Garnet <br />that it would be appropriate for stop signs to be installed, especially since there is a bust stop at <br />that intersection. She noted that a large amount of the neighborhood is in favor of the stop sign. <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski stated that if the Committee recommends the installation of stop signs <br />that they should install a four-way stop. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Zimmerman, seconded by Councilmember Connolly, to recommend <br />to City Council the installation of a four-way stop at the intersection of 137th Avenue and Garnet <br />Street. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Councilmember Zimmerman, and Councilmember Connolly. <br />Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman suggested that a traffic study be done at the intersection of 141st <br />Lane and Uranium for one year and then review the intersection at that time <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Zimmerman, seconded by Councilmember Connolly, to recommend <br />to City Council that a traffic study be preformed for one year at the intersection of 141st Lane and <br />Uranium. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler inquired if the whole area should <br />be studied for one year to see if the stop signs, that have been currently installed in the area, have <br />had a positive affect in the neighborhood. City Engineer Jankowski suggested doing a survey of <br />the neighborhood next spring to determine what affect the stop signs have had. Councilmember <br />Connolly questioned if the City has every posted any signs that state "Traffic Study Area". City <br />Engineer Jankowski responded that he was not aware of any such signs. Director of Public <br />Works/Fire Chief Kapler explained that the traffic studies are preformed to get a normal picture <br />of the traffic situation of the area and installing signs stating the study is occurring may not give <br />an accurate picture of the traffic in the neighborhood.
