Councilmember Zimmerman stated that all requests need to be reviewed and listen to the concerns of the neighborhoods. Councilmember Connolly stated that after reviewing the intersection of 137th Avenue and Garnet that it would be appropriate for stop signs to be installed, especially since there is a bust stop at that intersection. She noted that a large amount of the neighborhood is in favor of the stop sign. City Engineer Jankowski stated that if the Committee recommends the installation of stop signs that they should install a four-way stop. Motion by Councilmember Zimmerman, seconded by Councilmember Connolly, to recommend to City Council the installation of a four-way stop at the intersection of 137th Avenue and Garnet Street. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Councilmember Zimmerman, and Councilmember Connolly. Voting No: None. Councilmember Zimmerman suggested that a traffic study be done at the intersection of 141st Lane and Uranium for one year and then review the intersection at that time Motion by Councilmember Zimmerman, seconded by Councilmember Connolly, to recommend to City Council that a traffic study be preformed for one year at the intersection of 141st Lane and Uranium. Further discussion: Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler inquired if the whole area should be studied for one year to see if the stop signs, that have been currently installed in the area, have had a positive affect in the neighborhood. City Engineer Jankowski suggested doing a survey of the neighborhood next spring to determine what affect the stop signs have had. Councilmember Connolly questioned if the City has every posted any signs that state "Traffic Study Area". City Engineer Jankowski responded that he was not aware of any such signs. Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler explained that the traffic studies are preformed to get a normal picture of the traffic situation of the area and installing signs stating the study is occurring may not give an accurate picture of the traffic in the neighborhood.
