Community Development Director Sherman talked about the multi-family density for Leon
Fisher's property and added that these homes would be an island.

#4: Anoka Hennepin Technical College Re-Location

Mr. Norman stated that last Wednesday, he attended a meeting relating to the relocation of
AHTC. He briefed Council on the presentation made. He showed the presentation made by the
City of Anoka which actually criticized relocating to Ramsey. He felt that either the Ramsey site
or the Coon Rapids site would be good, however, Coon Rapids is not pushing for that.

Councihnember Hendriksen asked what the next step would be.

Mr. Norman stated that he is going ahead with the acquisition of property but not only for the
technical college. As far as the tech school, it will be a couple of months before we know
anything for sure.

Councihnernber Anderson mentioned that she had heard about Ramsey offering 40 to 80 acres.

Mr. Norman stated that the City has offered 40 acres, that's all we have ever offered. We have
never said anything about 80 acres.

#5: Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Ordinance Adoption Process

Community Development Director Sherman stated that the Planning Commission is holding a
public hearing tomorrow night relating to the Comp Plan and Zoning Ordinance adoption
process. The extension we received was to March 3l, 1999, and we are trying to keep that
schedule. The Planning Commission will make a recommendation and it is planned that it will
be brought to the City Council at their March 23, 1999 meeting.

Coul~cilmember Hendriksen stated that he feels we have some different ideas and he feels we
should meet with the Planning Commission.

Mr. Norman stated that you will probably have some general language and you will probably
want more specifics in the ordinance.

Councihnember Hendriksen stated that he has a problem with clustering, for example. MaYbe
we want to have a work session and invite the Planning Commission.

Mayor Gamec stated that it should depend on what the Planning Commission does tomorrow
night. We will take it from there.

#6: City Attorney E-mail Access

City Administrator Norman stated that we have become more e-mail literate and that the Public
Works Department is on a dial-in port. In the interest of communication with the City Attorney,

City Council Work Session ' March 15, 1999
Page 10 of 12
