installed as soon as practical and that the overlay project be delayed at least on this
portion of the subdivision work.

Motion by Councilmember Zimmerman and seconded by Mayor Gamec to install storm
sewer, likely in 2000, and delay Improvement project #99-08 until that time.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Zimmerman, Anderson
and Hendriksen. Voting No: None.

6) Report on Waltek Sewer and Water Extension

Mr. Jankowski stated that this was a report back on the desirability to have sewer and
water service extended to a couple of businesses. There is no Council action required.

~~1~#98-21 (Section 28 Sewer and
"-Water Extension)

Mr. Jankowski explained that this Change Order (C.O.) was received on April 19. The
C.O. has several unrelated issues on the project that is extending sewer and water to
Section 28 and the Burger King site. Part A involves a $6,553 increase to add concrete
curb and gutter to the Bury and Carlson yard entrance. This addition was requested by
Bury and Carlson and will be paid for by Bury and Vision Ease. The Committee
recommended approval contingent upon Bury and Carlson agreeing to reimburse the City
for these costs. Part B involves the extension of the length of jacking needed under the
railroad track. This was found to be necessary because of numerous utilities found
adjacent to the tracks, and the previous plan was for open trench construction. This part
of the C.O. increases the project cost $5,351. Mr. Jankowski continued that Part D
involves the addition of a two-foot barrel section that was discovered to have an
excessive number of adjusting rings. Excess rings make access difficult and hazardous.
This part of the C.O. results in an additional cost of $396. The Committee recommended
authorization of Parts B, C, and D.

Motion by Mayor Gamec and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman to not pay for
Part A and to approve Change Order No. 2 for Improvement Project #98-21 (Section 28
Sewer and Water Extension).

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Zimmerman, Anderson
and Hendriksen. Voting No: None.

Case #15: Report from Personnel Committee

1)

Receive Hiring Recommendation for Public Works Maintenance Positions
(two positions)

Motion by Mayor Gamec and seconded by Councilmember Anderson to authorize the
hire of Brian Swanson and Charles Cornelius as Public Works Maintenance Workers,

City Council/April 27, 1999
