Case #3: Adopt Ordinance to Establish No Wake Zone on Rum River <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Frolik stated that on May 25, 1999, the City Council conducted a public <br />hearing and introduced an ordinance to establish a no wake zone on the Rum River in the vicinity <br />of 151 st Avenue Northwest and 153rd Avenue Northwest. The establishment of this no wake zone <br />is being pursued in cooperation with the City of Andover. Ms. Frolik noted that per City <br />Council's direction, staff notified all Ramsey residents that submitted written or verbal <br />comments at last year's public hearing of the impending ordinance adoption. One letter was <br />received from Dave Perkins, Ramsey, in opposition to the no wake zone on the Rum River. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman to adopt Ordinance #99- <br />08 establishing a no wake zone on the Rum River. <br /> <br />A roll call vote was performed by Mayor Gamec. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman aye <br />Councilmember Anderson aye <br />Councilmember Hendriksen aye <br />Mayor Gamec aye <br /> <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />Case #4: Receive Bids and Award Contracts for the 1999 Street Maintenance Program <br /> <br />Director of Public Works Kapler stated that the 1999 Street Maintenance Program consists of <br />three separate fill and sealcoat projects covering 6.8 miles of City streets and four overlay <br />projects covering 5.7 miles of residential streets. He explained that bids were opened at 10:00 <br />a.m., June 8, 1999, for the 1999 Street Maintenance Program. The program is divided into three <br />contracts, Division A - crack filling, Division B - sealcoating, and Division C ~ bituminous <br />overlays. Low bids were received as follows: <br /> <br />Division A - Crack filling <br /> <br />Northland Sealing - Stripping <br />Feasibility Study Estimate <br /> <br />$7,176 <br />$9,086 <br /> <br />Division B - Sealcoating <br /> <br />ASTECH Corp. <br />Feasibility Study Estimate <br /> <br />$47,740 <br />$68,2OO <br /> <br />Division C - Bituminous overlays <br /> <br />Midwest Asphalt Corporation <br />Feasibility Study Estimate <br /> <br />$189,660 <br />$214,200 <br /> <br />Director of Public Works Kapler stated that all three of the low bid contractors have successfully <br />completed contracts on similar work for the City in the past. <br /> <br />City CounciFJune 8,1999 <br />Page 5 of 16 <br /> <br /> <br />
