Councilmember Hendriksen inquired if they approve the recommendation would they be consistent with the current policy. Administrative Services Manager Pruitt Hottinger replied yes, that it is Council's discretion. Councilmember Connolly stated that she does not want to see situations where an employee is hired as half-time and then the position tums into full-time without the job being posted. Mayor Gamec explained that if the position did turn into a full-time position the job would have to be advertised. Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilmember Hendriksen, to authorize hiring Brian Ihnot as the part-time Mechanic, contingent upon successful completion of a physical examination and driving record, at an hourly rate of $17.64/hour. Further discussion: Coun¢ilmember Connolly stated that she was voting no to the recommendation due to lack of policy. Councilmember Zimmerman requested that Administrative Services Manager Pruitt Hottinger look into further policy over hiring full-time and part-time workers. Motion carded. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Hendriksen, Anderson, and Zimmerman. Voting No: Councilmember Connolly. 3) End Probationary Period of Community Development Secretary Tara Olson Motion by Councilmember Anderson, seconded by Councilmember Hendriksen, to adopt Resolution #99-09-171A for employee Tara Olson and granting her the status of regular, full- time Community Development Secretary effective September 15, 1999. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Anderson, Hendriksen, Connolly, and Zimmerman. 4) Ramsey Facility Usage Rental Policy Councilmember Anderson reviewed the changes that were recommended by the Personnel Committee. Councilmember Hendriksen questioned why Women of Today were listed as a separate non- profit organization. Consensus was reached to move Women of Today to item C.
