Councilmember Hendriksen stated that he walked the parcel and other than finding a lot of man <br />hole covers, and outlet/inlets, he can't begin to understand where the water is going and what the <br />intent was for the area. He requested that a hydrological design needs to be done of the area. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that one concern was that if the farm was developed they did not want them <br />to have access onto T.H. #47 and so the extension of Barium Street would work as a service <br />road. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that there is an enormous amount of area that is being drained <br />and he would like to understand how it came that the property is drained at the City's expense <br />and now the developer is wishing the City to pay more to expand or improve the drainage. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman suggested using Hakanson Anderson to calculate the run-off of the <br />area. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec requested that the Public Works Committee work on the issue further and bring it <br />back to Council. <br /> <br />4) <br /> <br />Acquire Lot 3, Block 2, Gateway North Industrial Park for Use by the Public Works <br />Department <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman stated that this item was added by Public Works Director Kapler <br />and involves the 1.9-acre parcel immediately north of 142''d Avenue, directly across from the <br />Public Works site. The parcel is presently for sale and includes a 5,000 square foot structure that <br />could serve as both office space and salt storage. This property would also provide some badly <br />needed areas for outside storage. The Committee recommended the authorization of inquires <br />into acquisition of the property. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works Kapler stated that he has talked to the grandson of the property owner <br />who is handling the property and explained that they are open to a long term lease option. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec inquired if it would be a lease to purchase option. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works Kapler stated that he would like to discuss further details with the City <br />Attorney to determine the best way to obtain the property. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec replied that he would like a lease to purchase option. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec recessed the regular City Council meeting at 8:40 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the regular City Council meeting back to order at 8:45 p.m. <br /> <br />City Council/October 26, 1999 <br /> Page 14 of 16 <br /> <br /> <br />
