It is anticipated that it may take three to
six months before the Community Development Department is back to adequate staffing levels.
The consulting finn recently contracted by the City will allow the City to fill in some of the
major projects; however, much of the background work still is required to be performed by in-
house Staff. He explained that he recently became aware of an intern availability from the City
of Andover. The current internship program is near completion and the current intern will be
available within two weeks. The availability of an intern to assist the in-house needs of the
Community Development Department provides a much-needed opportunity for the City. Staff
could assist with research, Planning Commission meeting preparation, provide information to
citizenry on land use and zoning code issues, assist consultants with Planning Commission items,

City Council/November 9, 1999
