Option Two would be to place a full width concrete section through a 250 foot section of <br />Civic Center Drive, by removing 37 feet of the bituminous base course and replacing it <br />entirely with a concrete section. The estimated cost for this option is $106,128. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Olson advised the recommendation of staff and the Public Works <br />Committee is that the City Council authorize a change order for Option One in the amount of <br />$I 1,635. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Public Works Committee in Case No. 3 and adopt Resolution #06-05- <br />171 authorizing a change order for Option One in the amount of$11,635. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Mayor Gamec inquired if the waiting areas at the bus stop are currently <br />being constructed. Public Works Director Olson replied the bus shelters are being installed on <br />the south side of the road, but they are very generic bus shelters. There are some spots in the <br />parking ramp that are heated, such as the stairway, and there are areas enclosed in glass that will <br />allow for shelter from the wind, but are not heated. There is heat in the roof of the shelter. <br />Councilmember Elvig inquired about the timing on the bus service beginning. Public Works <br />Director Olson replied October 1, 2006 will be the start date. <br /> <br />Motion carded. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Elvig, Olson, Cook, Jeffrey, <br />Pearson, and Strommen. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />4) <br /> <br />Consider Change Order for Improvement Project 05-23 Ebony Street Sewer and <br />Water and Street Improvements <br /> <br />Public Works Director Olson explained at the conclusion of the 2005 construction season the <br />contractor for this project requested consideration of a number of cost increases based upon <br />changes encountered during the construction. Change Order No. 1 describes each changed item <br />for which staff is recommending for approval along with justification for each change. The total <br />amount of the changes is $8,117. All of the changes related to storm water issues and the <br />increase cost will be charged to the stormwater utility. Staff and the Public Works Committee <br />recommend City Council approval of Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $8,117 to be funded <br />from the Storm Water Utility. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Cook, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Public Works Committee in Case No. 4 and adopt Resolution #06-05- <br />172 approving Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $8,117 to be funded from the Storm Water <br />Utility. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Councilmember Elvig indicated debris was part of the cost increase. Public <br />Works Director Olson explained there was construction debris and a 24 inch pipe that was in the <br />ground and no longer needed. <br /> <br />Motion carried.
