SECTION 10 HEALTH AND SAFETY <br /> 10.1 Policy Statement <br /> The city of Ramsey's Safety Program is based on the premise that each and every one of our <br /> employees is entitled to a safe and healthy work environment. The Safety Program is designed <br /> specifically for the protection of our employees and visitors. All city of Ramsey employees are <br /> directed to make safety and loss control important matters. <br /> The City believes that every employee is concerned for their own safety and that of their co- <br /> workers and will recognize that the rules and policies contained herein are for their protection. The <br /> goals that we have set for our Safety Program can only be achieved through a cooperative effort <br /> between all employees. Safe working habits and an awareness of all safety rules and policies are a <br /> condition of your employment at the city of Ramsey. All employees are required to familiarize <br /> themselves with every rule and policy set forth and to abide by them. These rules and policies will <br /> be enforced just as any other City policy and failure to comply ean fesultmay result in <br /> disciplinary action,up to and including termination.,SuSPORS1011 Or, vY, .',.��Y,,o,,* <br /> All employees are encouraged to make suggestions which will assist in maintaining safe working <br /> conditions,and to bring to the attention of their supervisor any unsafe working conditions. It is <br /> through our joint participation that accidents can be prevented,but the individual employees,can <br /> make safe work practices a habit. <br /> This policy toward safety is in no way limited to the rules that follow,and any unsafe practices, <br /> whether listed here or not,will be addressed on a case-by-case basis. <br /> The city of Ramsey is committed to providing its employees with a safe and healthy work <br /> environment. <br /> 10.2 Health and Personal Safety <br /> Health and personal safety are some of the best guarantees for the successful performance of <br /> employees'work. Employees must work safely using the safety devices and equipment provided <br /> by the City for their protection. Employees must promptly report safety hazards to their <br /> supervisor. Unsafe conditions will be investigated and corrected,as necessary. <br /> 10.3 Workers'Compensation/Injuries and Illness at Work <br /> Both Minnesota Worker's Compensation laws and the state and federal Occupational Safety and <br /> Health Acts require that all on the job injuries and illnesses be reported as soon as possible by the <br /> employee,or on behalf of the injured or ill employee,to his/her supervisor. The employee's <br /> immediate supervisor is required to complete a First Report of Injury and any other forms that may <br /> be necessary related to an injury or illness on the job. First Report of Injury forms must be <br /> submitted to Human Resources as soon as possible,but no later than 3 business days from the date <br /> of injury. Employees must keep Human Resources and their supervisor updated with regard to <br /> changes in their condition and/or return to work paperwork. <br /> 741Page <br />
