So whereas in some <br />cases the consultant has been held to correct a situation, this Town Center area has been very <br />fluid with regards to what has been estimated, what has been paid for, and what has been <br />designed. The design on Sunwood Drive was changed basically overnight. The consultant has <br />been responsive to the City's needs to correct and change things. He would rather not take the <br />opportunity to ask the consultant for reimbursement for the bituminous removal, which is about <br />the only thing they could be held accountable for. <br /> <br />Chairperson Elvig expressed his agreement with Mr. Olson's assessment of the consultant's <br />responsibility. He commented that the consultant has been right there with the City in making <br />things work with Ramsey Town Center. He inquired about the possibility of breakage with the <br />end points as outlined in the design. <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski indicated this concern was also noted by staff. <br /> <br />Chairperson Elvig inquired if this pavement area should be articulated by some type of stamping. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Olson indicated the sidewalk is scored and brushed differently. There is <br />no longer an opportunity to brush the areas that have been constructed, but it could be scored <br />differently. <br /> <br />Motion by Chairperson Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to recommend to City <br />Council that a change order be authorized for Option One in the amount of $11,635.00. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Chairperson Elvig reiterated that the design of the end points should be <br />reevaluated. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Absent: Councilmember Cook. <br /> <br />Case #4: <br /> <br />Consider Change Order for Improvement Project 05-23 Ebony Street Sewer <br />Water and Street Improvements <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski reviewed at the conclusion of the 2005 construction season the <br />contractor for this project requested consideration of a number cost increases based upon <br />changes encountered during the construction. Included in the Committee's packet is Change <br />Order No I, which describes each changed item for which staffis recommending approval, along <br />with justification for each change. The total amount of the changes is $8,117. All of the changes <br />relate to storm water issues and the increase cost will be charged to the storm water utility. Mr. <br />Jankowski provided an overview of the changes.
