TO, City Administrator

FROM, Public Works Superintendent

RE: Drinking Fountain Installation in Warming House

DATE: March 14, 1983

.,-:::..~

II

Installing a drinking fountain in the present warming house would be
difficult due to the present buried electrical wires where the water
line would have to be placed and the depth the water line would have
to be to keep from freezing. They would have to be placed at least
at an eight foot depth as that area is kept cleared of snow to drive
over. By driving over the area causes the frost to go deeper.

Also, the fountain would be hooked to a permanent water line which
"would require the building to be heated at all times." At the present
-time the City doesn't keep the building heated unless it is being
used. The fountain would also need a drain hook-up.

Future warming houses should have drinking fountains installed when
built but for this one we could purchase a five gallon insulated
cooler with cup dispenser and cups for less than a hundred dollars.
This would be a let down for the warming house attendants and the
children that signed the petition but due to the circumstances in-
volved, it would be the best alternative.

MM,sb

~
D2.-d

:

/

",

=

..
