Eligible Earned Sick and Safe Timed (ESST) Lcavc Severance Pay ESST eligible sick <br />leave severance -shall pay sshall not exceed 960 hours, is payable at a given percent as per this <br />policy and may be subject to language within the post -employment healthcare savings plan. be <br />defined as a lump sum payment upon termination of employment based on thirty-three (33) percent <br />of employee's unused, accumulated sick leave. after five (5) years of continuous employment. <br />After fifteen (15) years of continuous employment, the employee will instead receive thirty-five <br />(35) percent of said employee's unused, accumulated sick leave. _rafter twenty (20) years of <br />continuous employment, the employee will instead receive thirty-seven (37) percent of unused <br />accumulated sick leave. After twenty-five (25) years of continuous employment, the employee will <br />instead receive forty (40) percent of said employee's unused, accumulated sick leave. If applicable, <br />sick leave severance pay is subject to the rules of the non -union post -employment healthcare <br />savings plan. _In order to obtain eligible sick leave severance pay, an employee must leave City <br />employment in "good standing," as provided defined in Policy 3.13. <br />Employee An individual who has successfully completed all stages of the selection process <br />including the trainingprobation period. <br />Exempt Employee Any employee excluded from overtime and compensatory time off <br />provisions unclerefthe Minnesota and federal Fair Labor Standards Act ( FLSA). <br />FICA (Federal Insurance Contributions Act) FICA is the federal requirement that a certain <br />amount be automatically withheld from employees' earnings. Specifically, FICA requires an <br />employee _to contribute a percentage for Social Security and Medicare. The City contributes a <br />matching percentage on behalf of each employee. Certain employees are exempt or partially <br />exempt from these withholdings (e.g., police officers). <br />Fiscal Year The period from January 1 to December 31. <br />Full --Time Employee Employees who are required to work forty (40) or more hours per week] <br />year-round in an ongoing position. In accordance with federal health care reform laws, and <br />regulations, the City shall -offer health insurance benefits to eligible employees and their <br />dependents that work on average or are expected to work 30 or more hours per week or the <br />equivalent of 130 hours or more per month.
