PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
PUBLIC HEARING
CITY OF RAMSEY
ANOKA 0XNTY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
The Ramsey Planning and Zoning Commission conducted a public hearing on
Tuesday, March 1, 1988 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd.
N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota regarding Mr. Jon Rambosek's request for
preliminary plat approval of Rambosek Red Oak Estates.
Members Present:
Also Present:
Members Absent:
Mr. Gerald Zimmerman, Chairman
Mr. Roy Shumway
Mr. Jim Howei.i
Mr. Terry Hendriksen
Mr. Charles LaDue
Community Development Director Anne Norris
Mr. Michael Terry
Mr. Jim Holm
Chairman Zimmerman cal.ied the public hearing to order at 7:38 p.m.
Steve Nixon - 16300 Wolfram - Stated that everltody in the surrounding area
should be notified when roads are going to be extended or land will be
graded. The City Engineer was not aware of preparation of land last fall
until the third time we contacted him. At that time, Mr. Rambosek did not
have the necessary permits to begin preparing the land; also will be
checking with DNR and the Corps of Engineers to determine whether he can
dig out wetlands or remove trees and bury the debris on the lots that will
be developed. Stated he moved to Ramsey to get away trom busy city life
and he is concerned with the increase of traffic that will result from
extending roads and developing. One year ago, when Voltin's Oak Hill
Estates was platted, the citizens were told that the cul -de -sacs would be
the extent of new roads in this area. Menkveld's Country Park is a low
crime area and increased traffic through the area will change that. Stated
he is working on a petition requesting that the City leave Voltin's Oak
Hill Estates as is with no further subdividing and roads.
Tom Rachel - 6350 lb3rd Lane - Stated he has no opposition to the plat with
4 lots provided the road is not extended through the plat to join with
other additions. The increased traffic would impact the lifestyle, privacy
and property values in Menkveld's Country Park.
Chairman Zimmerman requested a show or hands from persons desiring tnat
Rambosek's Red Oak Estates be developed with a cul -de -sac rather than a
Planning and Zoning Public Hearing/March 1, 1988
Page 1 of 4
15?
