Staff Recommendation: <br />CONSIDER AUTHORIZATION TO HIRE <br />.A PART -TIME BUILDING MAINTENANCE WORKER <br />By: Givonna Reed Kone, Human Resources Manager <br />PC CASE # 3 <br />Background: <br />The City Council recently authorized staff to begin the recruitment process for a Part - <br />time Building Maintenance Worker. The position was advertised and approximately 20 <br />applications were received. Ten applicants have been interviewed and three applicants <br />received second interviews. The interview panel selected an individual to advance <br />through the selection process. All background results are satisfactory; however, staff has <br />not received one set of test results. <br />With the primary election fast approaching, building maintenance staff would greatly <br />benefit from the additional assistance of the individual hired for the part -time Building <br />Maintenance Worker position. With City Council approval, staff is requesting <br />authorization to hire a Part-time Building Maintenance Worker at an hourly wage not to <br />exceed $15.06 pending satisfactory results of all background checks. The selected <br />applicant's start date will be on or near August 28, 2006. Staff will present the name of <br />the selected candidate for ratification at the next regularly scheduled Personnel <br />Committee meeting. <br />Staff is recommending that the Personnel Committee grant authorization to hire a Part- <br />time Building Maintenance Worker at an hourly wage not to exceed $15.06. The name of <br />the selected candidate will be presented for ratification at the next regularly scheduled <br />Personnel Committee meeting This appointment is contingent upon successful <br />completion of all background checks. With City Council approval, the selected <br />candidate's start date will be on or near August 28, 2006. <br />Committee Action: <br />Motion recommending that the selected candidate for the Part-time Building Maintenance <br />Worker be hired at an hourly wage not to exceed $15.06. The name of the selected <br />candidate will be presented for ratification at the next regularly scheduled Personnel <br />Committee meeting. This appointment is contingent upon successful completion of all <br />background checks. With City Council approval, the selected candidate's start date will <br />be on or near August 28, 2006. <br />
