<br />Case # 3 <br /> <br />MEMO <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />August 31, 2006 <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />Economic Development Authority (EDA) <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />Sean Sullivan, Economic Development Coordinator <br /> <br />RE: <br /> <br />Staff Update <br /> <br />New Business Prospects: <br /> <br />Cullinan Rigging - Currently working with them on a 55.000 SF project that would be <br />locate in Gateway North Industrial Park No.5. Construction of McKinley Street and the <br />Extension of Ebony Street is completed. <br /> <br />Minnesota Waterjet- This company is currently located in the Western Suburbs is <br />looking to relocate to the Ramsey Area. This business utilizes state of the art technology <br />that uses water to cut metals and plastics. They are looking to build 20,000 S.F. between <br />now and next summer. The City Council Approved the TIF Assistance package for this <br />project on July 11, 2006, A site plan has been submitted for the August Planning <br />Commission meeting. Assuming all goes well construction should commence in <br />September. <br /> <br />Light manufacturer - Staff received an inquiry form the State of Minnesota regarding a <br />business based in Florida looking to move to the region. Staff provided information to <br />the State of Minnesota and a tour of some sites in Ramsey was given. The business <br />(confidential) was pleased with Ramsey and has contacted Staff for additional <br />information. The project would be 50-70,000 Square Feet. More information to come... <br /> <br />Business.Grand Openin2s:. None. Harber Industries didopen its doors in July but they did <br />not have an official grand opening. <br /> <br />Business Communication Initiatives: The Ramsey Business Appreciation Day was held on <br />August 15th at The Links at Northfork. The event was well attended and the atmosphere was <br />very positive. <br /> <br />Community Revitalization Projects <br /> <br />General: Two"'F or Sale" signs to be attached to the "'Community Revitalization" signs have <br />been made and will be put out in the field. One has already been put the old Amoco Site and it <br />has generated an inquiry. <br /> <br />6030 Bunker Lake Boulevard NW: The sale of Zero-Zone is complete and negotiations have <br />resumed. City Council approved the sale of the expansion property to Zero-Zone for $440,000. <br />Staff is working with the City Attorney to have a purchase agreement drawn up and to set a <br />closing date sometime in September. <br /> <br />-21- <br />
