The trail
would then follow the existing sidewalk on the east side of Ferry Street South and
easterly toward the Peninsula Point Park.

4, The fourth part of segment 5 is approximately 600 lineal feet long adjacent to
the entrance to Peninsula Point Park. This segment begins east of Ferry Street
where the sidewalk ends in front of the Shiloh House and continues down to the
proposed location for a pedestrian bridge over the Rum River. The entrance
road to the park is within a 30 foot roadway easement and has a paved surface
of 24 feet. Construction of this trail segment will include minimal clearing and
grubbing, along with construction of 600 feet of 6 foot wide path to match the
existing sidewalk.

5. The fifth part of segment 5 includes the construction of a pedestrian bridge over
the Rum River. This bridge is proposed for a connection to the existing Rum
River Trail from Peninsula Point Park. Construction of this bridge will most likely
be a pre-assembled steel bridge structure that could be set in place by a crane.
The bridge would be set on abutments that will be constructed in place on the
riverbanks. The cost of this Bridge and its construction are not included in the
cost estimate.

6. Segment Alternates

This segment has a number of alternate routes, which are evaluated as follows:

a. This alternate trail is a secondary route around the south and east sides
of K-Mart. This alternate is approximately 1 ~ 100 lineal feet long
adjacent to Cutters Lane, starting at the intersection with Cutters Grove
Avenue and ending at the intersection of Highway 10. This segment
would include use of the existing 5 foot sidewalk on the north and south
portion of Cutters Lane. The north and south portions are adjacent to
back yards and garages that have a zero foot setback from the right of
way line, and are entirely fenced. This sidewalk is 5 feet wide, ma.king it
acceptable for pedestrian use. The east and West portion of this
segment has a sidewalk that is approximately 4 feet wide and would be
replaced with a 5 foot concrete sidewalk.

,

Cutters Lane has a right of way of 60 feet in this area and a paved
Page 1 7

35
