surface of 30 feet; this provides approximately 15 feet of available space
for a trail on the south side of the roadway.

Construction of this trail segment will include 650 feet of new trail.

b. Another alternate is along Highway 10 and would act as a connection
from the east end of Segment 4 Alternate A, the Kings Island high water
alternate, to the cemetery trail along Highway 10.

This route is approximately 2,550 lineal feet long, beginning at Cuiters
Grove Avenue and extending to the cemetery trail. This entire segment is
adjacent to commercial properties, many of which will be impacted by
the future Highway 10 reconstruction project. This segment of trail may
only be possible in the future, concurrent with the Highway 10 project.

Construction of this segment will require construction on Mn/DOT right-
of-way or on permanent trail easement and temporary construction
easement from each of the private property owners south of Highway
10. The trail on private property would be located 10 feet from the
Highway 10 right of way.

Construction of this trail segment will include some clearing and
grubbing of trees, relocation of private fences, relocation of utility
pedestals and poles, along with construction of 2,550 feet of 10 foot
wide bituminous trail.

c. This alternate will make a connection from Porter Avenue to Main Street.

This route is approximately 1,300 lineal feet long. This segment starts
800 feet south of Highway lOon Porter Avenue, then proceeds
northeasterly through the Forest Hill Cemetery for 600 feet. The trail
exits the cemetery and proceeds along Forest Avenue until it at Main
Street

The cemetery property is owned by the City of Anoka. No right of way
will be required for this route. The trail would utilize the existing roadway
through the cemetery and would follow the north side of Forest Avenue
until it terminates at Main Street. A new trail will need to be constructed
along Forest Avenue. The portion through the cemetery will require an
overlay of the existing roadway.

The cemetery alternative is possible but the steep grades will encourage
the use of skateboards. This is not the type of activity we want to
encourage in the cemetery. The segment of trail at the memorial would
require fill and would eliminate approximately 15 feet on the north side
of Church Avenue, which will create a space problem at the memorial
Page 18

36
