Proposal
This park is developed to capacity to serve the needs of the area.
However, a parking area and fence to separate the parking area from
the residential area should be considered. Larger trees for screen-
ing would be desirable to screen the residential area from the parking
area. Because this park is developed to capacity and surrounds
residences, the park should not be enlarged. Additional development .
may be necessary for parking facilities if the need arises.
[ oodland Green MINI PARK
This 5 acre area offers a tremendous amount of development potential.
Presently, the park is partially developed with playground equipment.
The park is marked by natural terracing and if fully landscaped could
become a beautiful mini park. On the west side is a small surface
drainage area surrounded heavily with trees.
• Proposal
As the surrounding area develops, plans should be designed for making
this a better mini park. In the meantime, existing facilities should
be adequately maintained. This is true of all existing City -owned
park land.
Hu ►iter's Hill MINI PARK
This 4.5 acre park is also situated in the planned urban district zone,
and it is marked by steep slopes running into a surface drainage
depression. It is partially developed with some playground equipment
-- picnic table, grill and bench. Access is poor, with only the
south end of the park open at,144th Avenue N.W., but it does adequately
serve the immediate residents. As the urban district grows, this area
will not serve all residents adequately. Consideration should be
given to acquiring an access road across the north end of the park.
Also, consideration should be given to reshaping the park away from
such steep slopes on three of the sides, plus better landscaping to
enhance the site.
Proposal
It is proposed that this site be re- designed to enhance the site, and
that a neighborhood street be placed (for better access) at the north
end of the park when future development occurs.
Sports - Haven MINI PARK
This is a 1.9 acre park completely surrounded by residents or already
platted land, with very poor access (except to the immediate
residents) from a portion of a cul de sac on Xenonolith Street. This
is a very rough, unimproved park, with a small surface drainage
basin near the road access point.
17
