The expanded urban service area will result in
increased wastewater flows to the Metropolitan Disposal System.

Wastewater from the City of Ramsey is conveyed for treatment to the
Anoka Wastewater Treatment Plant. The Anoka Treatment Plant is
currently scheduled to be phased out by the Spring of 1992 with
wastewater flows directed to the CAB Interceptor. The CAB Interceptor
has sufficient capacity to accommodate a year 2000 wastewater flow of
1.044 million gallons per day (mgd) projected in the plan amendment.

The Anoka Wastewater Treatment Plant is presently operating near its
design capacity. The proposed plan amendment projects a 1990 waste-
water flow of 0.164 mgd with a 1992 wastewater flow of 0.336 mgd.
These flows exceed the City of Ramsey 1990-1992 regional wastewater
flow projections. The Commission, therefore, will need to undertake an
analysis of the capacity remaining at the Anoka WWTP to determine the
ability of the plant to handle the projected increased wastewater flow.
This analysis will be completed "prior to the expiration of the ninety
(90) day comprehensive plan amendment review period (July 26, 1988).

In the meantime, if you have any questions or need to arrange a
meeting with the City of ~amsey, please feel free to call me or
Mr. Edward Bloom of the Commission staff at telephone number 222-8423.

Very truly yours,

;fa. tP#

R.
