During the last Committee meeting there was discussion
about the cost associated with the improvements, which turned out to be in the range of
$350,000. The Committee discussed the possibility of assessing the sidewalk installation on
Waco Street. The recommendation of the Committee was to forward the discussion of the
feasibility of installing sidewalk improvements on Waco Street to a work session for discussion
by the full Council.

Councilmember Cook explained the issues that are run into come from discussing assessments,
and what will be done when the next subdivision requests a sidewalk. These improvements
should likely be assessed at 100%, but these residents did not actually ask for a sidewalk, they
asked for the road to be striped so a portion could be used for a biking or walking lane. It was
the Public Works Committee that said this was not a favorable, and that they should look at a
sidewalk, so they would actually be assessing a project no one really requested.

Case #17: Report from Personnel Committee

1) Consider Ending Probationary Period for a Streets Maintenance Worker

Assistant City Administrator Nelson stated on January 25, 2006, Greg Lind, former Parks
Maintenance Worker, was appointed to a Streets Maintenance Worker position as a result of an
internal recruitment process.
