<br />Mr. Murphy stated a typical mortgage payment for these units will be between $2,000 and <br />$2,500 per month. The units being proposed will not fit in with any low income profiles. If <br />anyone wants to start a fund to help them finance an office building on this site, they would <br />consider it. <br /> <br />Ms. Defore stated she has gone 18 years with no bikes stolen, and now they have had them <br />stolen. They would be happy to work with the developer for some other type of arrangement. <br /> <br />Mr. Wolens stated as a former council member in another city, the thing he usually tries to do is <br />listen to the people in the community. The Commission has more guts than he does to change <br />this zoning, which has gone before the Metropolitan CounciL <br /> <br />Chairperson Nixt stated this Commission is a recommending body. He will take under <br />advisement the comments provided by the residents, and take into account the comments of staff. <br />The Commission will make a recommendation to the City Council who will make the final <br />decision. The residents should be prepared to make their recommendation of pros and cons when <br />this goes before the CounciL This will go before the City Council the fourth Tuesday of this <br />month. He encouraged the residents to reach their council members and staff, and to use the <br />available resources to their advantage in order to communicate their positions. <br /> <br />Motion by Chairperson Nixt, seconded by Commissioner Brauer, to close the public hearing. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Nixt, Commissioners Brauer, Cleveland Hunt,. Levine, <br />and Trites Rolle. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioner Van Scoy. <br /> <br />The public hearing was closed at 7:57 p.m. <br /> <br />Commission Business <br /> <br />Chairperson Nixt called the regular meeting of the Planning Commission back to order at 7:57 <br />p.m. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Levine, seconded by Commissioner Brauer, to recommend that City <br />Council deny the request for a Comprehensive Plan Amendment due to the need for a very <br />compelling reason to amend the land use. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Commissioner Brauer commented this case reminds him of a similar one on <br />Highway #47 across from the Holiday Station where there is a property that is now zoned B-2 <br />that is essentially in a residential development. The person who owns the property came to the <br />Planning Commission at the time with the idea of putting townhouses on that piece of property. <br />The recommendation of the Planning Commission was that the property should remain zoned <br />with the office use, and that the property owner should try to determine if they could get an <br />office tenant in there.
