-250-
Council will also note that Elmcrest's Phase 3 improvements are scheduled for three installments
of $55,000 in 2006,'07 and '08. The sequencing of the improvements would be for the initial
boulevard irrigation, followed by 2007 plantings and additional irrigation - followed by the other
elements referenced above.
Action Required: Approve up to $55,000 for base bid (boulevard area) irrigation from the
Park Improvement Trust Fund
Drinking Fountain(s)
Also shown as multi -year investments are `drinking fountains' for those parks with municipal
water service. These are very popular - particularly with attached pet fountain. For the 2006
allocation, this would be fountain (with pet attachment) and a spray mister for Solstice Park.
(For 2007, this same combination would be recommended for Elmcrest before the summer
soccer season.)
Action Required: Approve up to $7,000 from the Lawful Gambling Fund
Hexagonal Shelter
Adding a hexagonal shelter to Woodland Green Park will round -out the basic features for this
park. The shelter will be 25' feet across, and positioned near the center of the park to serve any
park users - and also providing shade for the playground users.
Action Required: Approve up to $44,000 from the Park Improvement Trust Fund
Observations:
Should City Council approve these projects; Staff will organize the various trades and contracts
required and initiate the projects for a fall 2006 start - with a completion schedule before the end
of school year in the spring of 2007. Images of the various improvements highlighted above will
be available at the Work Session with the quotes received for Elmcrest's irrigation and
Woodland Green's shelter.
Council Action:
Approval the 2006 Park's Capital Improvement Program, in the amounts and funding source
presented above - based upon discussion.
Reviewed by:
Parks Supervisor
Director of Public Works
Finance Officer
CC: 10/24/06
2006 CIP Allocation $7,000
2006 CIP Allocation $44,000
•
