i
1\

-J_

.

Councilman Gorham rep1ied~hey need ade.quate knowledge for making a decision
and they need time to digest everything here tonight.

Mayor Cox said he can respond to the discomfort anybody attempting a ne~
job with a government or otherwise feels. It is sometimes unde.r questionable
conditions. Everyone ~a~, times and situations of frustrationi. In all due
respect, he said he canno:C.'let that stand in the way of his.~decision. And, he
would like to sleep on it.

Mayor Cox presented a picture to .Mr. Walker and asked if he knew the location.

Mr. Walker replied that he has driven by the place and that there is a complaint
there to take care of. He added, this slune's":I.tuation probably exists in a
couple places, one of the Councilmen has the same situation in his yard.

E. Larsen said he knew the location without even seeing the picture, it is
153rd and Ramsey Boulevard. I don't share secrets. It's over by Gun Club
road. This was brought to the Council' s attention twice before and let's
not bring it up again.

Councilwoman Oliphant questioned what relevance this had.

Mayor Cox replied, does this have any rOCJre relevancy than the questions you have
asked.

.

Dick Hawkinson said questions about the lumber on the corner of No. 5 and 47
could be brought before regular Council meetings.

Mayor Cox said he just .asked Mr. Walker if he was aware of ,i t and if he
thought something should be done about it.

Councilman Gorham said no charges are being brought against anyone.

Mr. Walker said he felt they were.

Margie Stepten said he answered all the questions put before him, why can't you
decide.
Mayor Cox said he has answered the questions but everyone working with him
hasn't answered them.

J. Schutz asked if they could make some type of indication as to what the
decision would be.

Councilman Gorham said this is the entire Council's responsibilitYr and they
made their recommendation and are here tonight to just review the report.

Margie Stepten asked how much time Council needed.

Councilman Gorham said at the last Council Meeting that his probation would
be extended until July 15,1976. He feels many things are coming up. The
landfill negotiations should rOCJve one way or the other. We all need to sit
down and talk over the qituation and reach an agreement. He said .the problems
were brought out, Mr. Walker has told us many things he has done for us in
the community and he thinks they can all sit down and work it out.

Councilwoman Oliphant: Mr. Walker has leadership ability and the ability to
make decisions from what I am hearing and we still can't make a decision?

Mayor Cox: First of all, Mrs. Oliphant, you voted against having an administrator.
All of a sudden now you change your mind, this is very irregular.

Council woman Oliphant: I did not vote against an Administrator.

Mayor Cox: Did you vote in favor?

Councilwoman Oliphant: Yes I did.

Mayor Cox: What do you mean, unable to make a decision. As far as I am concerned
there is no one rOCJre capable of making a decision than myself.

E. Larsen: Sooner or later you will have to make a decision. Let's not leave
the door open to another lawsuit. We all owe it to him to clarify the situation
and make a decision.

f",,:
". . r,
