directing that such a policy require a petition signed by five property owners or residents residing <br />within 500 feet of the requested traffic modification. <br />Staff reviewed the following draft Policy for Traffic Control Modification Requests: <br />It shall be the policy of the City that any request for a modification to existing traffic <br />control devices be accompanied by a petition signed by a minimum of five property <br />owners or residents residing within 500 feet of the requested traffic modification. Upon <br />receipt of a qualifying petition staff shall notify the Public Works Committee of the <br />request and shall undertake the necessary studies to evaluate the requested modification <br />in accordance with the guidance provided in the Minnesota Manual on Uniform Traffic <br />Control Devices. Staff shall present an analysis along with their recommendation on the <br />request to the Public Works Committee. Petitioners shall be notified when the <br />recommendation for their request is to be presented to the Committee. A recommendation <br />from the Public Works Committee shall be forwarded to the City Council for final action. <br />Motion to recommend to the City Council that the attached Policy for Traffic Control <br />Modification Requests be adopted. <br />Action: <br />Ratify the recommendation of the Public Works Committee. <br />Case #3 Consider Adoption of a Revised Street Lighting Policy <br />Background: <br />At the January meeting discussion focused on establishing a process for installing subdivision <br />street lights in neighborhoods without them. At the September meeting staff reported that in <br />2006 a long standing goal of completing the installation of priority street lighting on all <br />intersections with state, county and arterial City streets was realized, and suggested that an <br />annual budget of $15,000 be allocated for the installation of priority lights in other locations <br />deemed to benefit the general public. Direction to staff provided from both these meetings by <br />City Council was to revise the street lighting policy. <br />Motion to recommend to the City Council that the attached revised Street Lighting Policy be <br />adopted. <br />Action: <br />Ratify the recommendation of the Public Works Committee. <br />Case #4 Report on Crosswalks Across County Roadways <br />Background: <br />• <br />
