. Mr. 'lborpe - Replied that there is a slim chance .K'lWN would rent s};ace to other
antennas; K'lWN doesn' t fit because of frequency allocations and there is no
reason for others to come here for that same reason.

Ms. Penna - Stated she has done sane research and found out that this type of
FM output will blanket out cuw other EM receivers of a snaller nature (cordless
telephones, walkie-talkies, boan boxes) within a 6 mile radius. Is.K'lWN
willing to say that they will adjust all of these utilities at no cost to users
in the area?

.

Mr. '!borpe - Replied that FCC requires broadcasters to make adj ustments and
noted that these residents are within 6 miles of IcrWN' s present 100,000 wattage
signal and IcrWN has received no complaints regarding interference.

Gary Fries - Stated that he CMOS several radio stations and the citizen concern
is valid and common. '!he main thing to realize is that there will be no
increase in pJWer and the current operation will cease. '!be raising of the
antenna is actually a major reduction in the amount of pJWer source applicable
to cuw surrounding area. FCC mandates that radio transnitters not cause
interference; if it does occur, he pranises as the CMner of K'IWN, that IcrWN is
required ~ FCC to correct the situation; but, K'IWN cannot be res{X>nsible for
every Ja};anese rej ect that develops interference problans. Never had a
situation where a solution has not been made within days; in R'lWNI s best
interest to solve cuw problans.

Vernon Brand - 17045 Armstrong Blvd. - Stated that he ooesnlt want the tCMer
constructed in this residential neighborhood. Irx:.Iuired if the tCMer would be
taxed commercially.

Mr. Fries - Stated that IcrWN has no opposition to being taxed commercially.

Mr. Brand - Stated that there will be a lot of birds getting killed ~ flying
into the tCMer and guy wires.

Mr. '!borpe - Stated Mr. Brandis concern for the birds is legitimate. '!be
nllllber of bird kills at tCMers 1000 I and less is insignificant; not that every
bird doesn I t count.

Mr. Fries - Stated that he assumes the new tCMer would be taxed the same as the
existing facility and that facility p:tys a fair amount of taxes.

Orville Gorton - 16901 Armstrong Blvd. - Stated that if. the tCMer itself only
consunes less than one acre, wlw canlt the tCMer ranain in operation at it's
present location?

.

Mr. 'lhorpe - Replied that the tCMer height at the existing location cannot be
raised because R'lWNwants to cooperate with Gateway North airport expansion;
K'lWN1 s present location is too close to the airport.

Orville Gorton - In:;Iuired hCM K'lWN can do this to Ramsey I s farmland.

Mr. '!borpe - Replied that the actual ground space consumed ~ the tower is 1/2
June 25, 1985
