Cox: Are you aware then, council, that when this chool decision was made there was much input from the residents and the people in the City of Ramsey, and I have all the letters in the past that document that. That this community acted very rational in working ~Qth the school district to get the school in this community to begin with, and that the past . Board of the City of Ramsey worked very closely with them in selecting a sight for the school. And, during that period of time, also, there was no discussion as to whether it was going to be residential or commercial and~that there was another site selected. The l'1el James property off Sunfish Lake Blvd. and Hwy #5. And, that the Board met with those people and,~asked them if they ,-lQuld relent or permit or help build or cooperate or whatever was necessary to provide a road to that property away from the property line of the people who lived south of it. To provide reasonable future planning for that area, and that land, and they said at that time a plain "no". That is in the record. That property was also being afferedat $2,000.00 an acrea. Upon looking at sites, this site where the school is presently at and whose board members the previous, with school district board members. (1) Oliphant: Absolutely correct, Mr. Hayor. Cox: The previous Board for the City of Ramsey. Oliphant: Also your City planner was involved in this and Mr. Tucker indicated to me. Cox: Yes, the City planner as well, went to -- no the city planner was not involved _ we have gotton input and comments from him, but he did not at that time review the site personally with those people. They even went to the airport and~took plane rides over the entire area to look at these sites and after considering these two _ it came down to two - and the decision was made based on the inaccessability to the James property in consideration for the $1250.00 as compared to the $2,000.00. That decision was made due to the good opportunity for drainage and oncsite septic system. And, I don't think any past board member can recall any conversation in regard to l-lhether there was going .to be commercial or residential across the road-side. Oliphant: That is exactly correct.
