<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Case #2: Discussion Reiardini Business Retention/Industrial Visitation <br />Proiram: <br /> <br />Ms. Norris stated that the business retention/industrial visitation survey <br />is a Star City tasks intended to establish a regular, on-going industrial <br />visitation with local businesses; she is awaiting delivery of training <br />videos for that survey task. <br /> <br />Commissioner Ippel suggested that the Labor Survey be done simultaneously <br />with the Business Retention Survey. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Fults and seconded by Commissioner Muller to appoint <br />Chairman Greenberg, Commissioners Wagner, Gorecki and Ms. Norris to a Star <br />City Subcommittee for the purpose of outlining and prioritizing tasks to be <br />accomplished for the Star City Program. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairman Greenberg, Commissioners Muller, <br />Fults, Kurak, Wagner, Ippel and Gorecki. Voting No: None. Absent: <br />Commissioners Vevea and Hardin. <br /> <br />Case #3: Discussion Reiardini Economic Development Intern: <br /> <br />This item was indirectly addressed during Case #2 and Case #4. <br /> <br />Case #5: Discussion Reiarding Funds Allocated For Economic Development <br />Activities In 1987 And 1988 Budiet For Economic Development: <br /> <br />Ms. Norris noted that the Commission has not appropriated or used a <br />majority of the $50,000 allocated by City Council last year for economic <br />development activities; a plan for use of those funds should be established <br />if the Commission's intent is to request additional funds in 1988. <br /> <br />Commission consensus was that Ms. Norris should inform City Council that <br />economic development activities are progressing, yet funds alllocated for <br />that purpose are being expended conservatively; that fund balance continue <br />to be reserved for economic development activities. <br /> <br />Case #6: Discussion Reiardini Meetini With Metropolitan Council <br />Regardini Population And Employment Projections: <br /> <br />Commissioner Ippel reported that he, Commissioner Kurak and Ms. Norris met <br />with Metro Council staff regarding their low estimates for Ramsey's <br />population and employment in the years 1990 nd 2000; the only way those <br />figures will be corrected is if Ramsey provides Metro Council with the <br />correct figures. Commissioner Ippel stated that in conjunction with the <br />business retention survey, businesses should be made aware that not showing <br />Ramsey as their location on paperwork is giving Anoka credit for that <br />business and that number of employees; this makes Ramsey appear to not be <br />growing. <br /> <br />Commissioner Kurak stated that in the opinion of Metro Council staff, <br />communities with the following assets will get the growth and development: <br />EDC/August 12, 1987 <br /> <br />Page 4 of 5 <br />
