<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The Commission agreed that there is an urgent need to get the star city <br />tasks completed in a timely manner. Commissioner Hardin noted that the <br />Econom1c Development Commission recommended the most economical method <br />(hiring an intern) to City Council six months ago; if that had been <br />approved, star city surveys could have been completed and and 1nformat1on <br />comp1led by this time. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued regard1ng the importance and value of commissioners <br />participating in the business survey; that this task should not be done <br />soley by an outsider. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Gorecki and seconded by Commissioner Ippel, for <br />discussion, directing that each member of the Economic Development <br />Commission conduct an interview with a business. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Commissioner Gorecki stated that he has already <br />interviewed one business; that business was impressed that Ramsey is taking <br />action on it's concerns for businesses. Comm1ssioner Ippel stated that the <br />labor survey should be done simultaneously with the business survey. <br />Commissioner Hard1n agreed that all information needed from businesses <br />should be gathered 1n one step. <br /> <br />Motion failed. Voting Yes: Commissioner Gorecki. Voting No: <br />Greenberg, Commissioners Ippel, Fults, Hardin and Kurak. <br />Commissioners Vevea, Muller and Wagner. <br /> <br />Chairman <br />Ab s e n t : <br /> <br />Commissioner Fults d1sm1ssed h1mselt from the meet1ng at this time. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Hard1n and seconded by Commissioner Ippel to direct <br />the Star City Administrative Subcommittee to reconvene and contact various <br />vocational schools and colleges to determine the cost of hir1ng an economic <br />development intern, the timetable on Wh1Ch an 1ntern could complete certain <br />star city tasks and prepare a recommendation for City Council. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairman Greenberg, Commissioners Ippel, <br />Hardin, Gorecki and Kurak. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioners <br />Fults, Muller, Vevea and Wagner. <br /> <br />Chairman Greenberg directed the Star City Administrative Subcommittee meet <br />with those Commission members who attend the Star City Seminar on <br />September 15-16 and be prepared to make a report at the next regular <br />Econom1c Development Commission meeting. <br /> <br />Case 4/:6: Request That City Council Proclaim October 11 As "Discover <br />Ramsey Day": <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Ippel and seconded by Commissioner Kurak requesting <br />that City Council procla1m October 11 as "Discover Ramsey Day". <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairman Greenberg, Comm1ssioners Ippel, <br />Hardin, Gorecki and Kurak. Voting No: None.
