.

.

.

Commissioner Ippel reported that City Council approved the EDC request to
purchase a video/player for displaying the Ramsey video on the contingency
that Councilmember DeLuca research a more economical price for the unit.
Councilmember DeLuca has found a combination VCR/T.V. that sells for $549.
Commissioner Ippel stated that the $549 unit is good for personal use but
in his opinion it is not a unit made for the use EDC is intending. The
$549 unit is not portable. Commissioner Ippel stated that it is his
recommendation to go with the $1589 unit that is designed for portability.
Commissioner Ippel stated that the $1589 unit also has available a switch
that automatically replays the tape.

Commissioner Kurak stated that the resolution on the $1589 unit is much
better and makes the tape look more professional.

Commissioner Fults stated that a large demand for the tape and player is
anticipated and the better choice would be the quality equipment.

Commission consensus was that Council is aware that EDC desires the quality
equipment through it's previous motion and minutes; it is up to
Commissioner Ippel to convince Councilmember DeLuca that the more expensive
unit is a better buy for the use intended.

Chairman Greenberg stated that some of the commissioners have reviewed the
Ramsey video and expressed their approval of it but there are concerns with
certain aspects of the content material being inaccurate or soon to be
outdated and certain things not mentioned.

Commissioner Ippel noted that the life expectancy of a city video is 2-3
years because contents do become outdated and require updating.

Commission consensus is that the video is excellent but needs some
refining.

Motion by Commissioner Gorecki and seconded by Commissioner Wagner
directing that all commissioners review the tape; that a special EDC
meeting be scheduled with the producer of the tape to determine the
seriousness of the recommended changes as they relate to the cost of making
changes and the life expectancy of the tape.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairman Greenberg, Commissioners Gorecki,
Ippel, Wagner, Kurak, Vevea, Hardin, Muller and Fults. Voting No: None.

Ms. Norris noted that the full commission is present and inquired if some
consideration should be given to changing the meeting day from Wednesday to
Thursday. Chairman Greenberg stated that changing the meeting day can be
discussed at the next regular meeting.

Case #2: Discussion Re~ardini Star City Work Pro~ram:

Ms. Norris stated that the Star City Work Program Committee met and
recommended that in order for the business surveys to be useful, members of
the Commission need to conduct the surveys; they also recommend that Yvonne
Curan (one of the coordinators of the Business Expo) be hired to coordinate
all other star city tasks.
Economic Development Commission/November 12, 1987
