Many of our City streets
have been planted with new
boulevard trees and many
more will be planted in the
future. These new trees
replace the thousands of'trees
lost to Dutch elm disease.
The City has adopted a,
Master Street Tree Plan to be a
comprehensive, yet flexible,
guide for planting, mainten-
ance and removal of trees on
public property.
Its purpose is to revitalize
Anoka's urban forest by estab-
lishing guidelines for the pro-
per planting of trees on public
property. It will require the full
cooperation of residents, busi-
nesses and civic organizations
to achieve this goal.
In general, the City is plant-
ing trees of mixed species
along our streets where whole
blocks of Dutch elm trees,
planted in the past, were ,lost
to disease, creating large
voids i nthe streetscape.
Guidelines for planting is
. based on boulevard widths
and utilities present at the
planting locations.
The following criteria are be-
ing used:
Trees shall be planted:
1. at least 30 feet from
street intersections
2. at least 10 feet from
alleys and driveways
3. at least 10 feet from a
utility pole
4. at least 10 feet from a fire'
hydrant
5. at least 6 feet from

BUILDING NUMBERS
ORDINANCE
The City of Anoka reminds
you that the owner of any resi-
dential, commercial, and/or in-
dustrial structure, public or
private, must h?ve. a house/
building number displayed
that is clearly visible from the
street by June 1, 1985. Each
number must be four inches or
greater in height and should
be of a color .that contrasts
with the color of tne structure
to which it is attached. For
more information, contact
the Building Inspector, at
421-6630, extension 125.
GARBAGE CONTAINERS
. A recently passed' City or-
dinance makes it a violation of.
Anoka's blight ordinance if
garbage containers are not re-
moved from the curb after col-
lection day and stored in the
rear of the premises, in enclos-
ed structures on the premises,
or in the side yard set back if
screened so as to be out of
view from the street and from
adjoining property. The ordin-
ance also disallows dumping
garbage into someone else's
container without permission
and a fine can be imposed ,I
'ne o'd "anre S ....,.-,-1
Ou ~ ""1
n'e Ano'.a Po ...<: ::;..p~ - e"

o It'le' a rY' ed..... rew ::opec es
a ,.,.. ,..
