Commis- sion members Looyen and Dodge will serve on the com- mittee formed to organize a fund raiser to match the Broth- erhood's offer. -Moved to make applica- tion for lawcon/lCMR grant monies for Ramsey parks. -Withdrew a motion of Jan- uary 17 to have the City secre- tary resume taking minutes at Park meetings as the Com- munity School Secretary has agreed to attend meetings and take minutes. The Park and Recreation I J 1 :1 Commission met on April 18 and: -Moved that money deriv- ed from softball tournaments will be deposited in the City's general park fund. - Lutheran Brotherhood donated $400 toward Fraternal Park Day and it will be used to build base boxes. . -Moved to submit an appli- cation for lawcon grant monies for tennis courts at River's Bend Park and Central Park and a Fitness Trail at River's Bend Park. The Landfill Ad Hoc Com- mittee met on April 15 and: -Mr. Deluca and Mr. Foun- tain report highlights of a re- cent meeting with Representa- tive Hartinger. -The landfill Operations subcommittee reported that in their opinion the principal funds in the landfill Trust Fund should be reserved for emergency uses and a certain' amount of the interest money derived frol]l that Trust Fund could be used annually by the City; a firm recommendation is being withheld until Waste Management of Minnesota's liability status is known. -Mr. Larry Johnson, a Gateway North Airport Continued from page 18 tl I $295,000 for State funding and $1,310,000 would be the City's share. The total projected cost for the 20 year development plan without hangars would be $4,955,000; $4,326,000 would be eligible for Federal funding, $108,000 for State funding and the City's share would be $535,000. After the public hearing in August, the Airport Commis- sion will make a recommenda- tion to City Council regarding whether or not to proceed with a plan for a municipally owned airport facility. Council will then make the final decision. The City Council has stated that it is in favor of well . balanced commercial/indus- trial development in Ramsey to improve the City's tax base. Council has not taken a stand on whether or not the airport project is the best method available to attract that com- merciallindustrial growth. There is sufficient evidence that airports enhance economic growth and the time is drawing near for the City to make a decision regarding whether or not the airport is the best method to pursue in keeping Ramsey competitive with other communities. The citizens of Ramsey are encour- aged to provide input into that decision making process and attend the public hearing at Ci- ty Hall on August 21 at 7:30 p.m. The final draft of the airport master plan has been submit- ted to the governing bodies for review; copies of that final draft are available for review at city hall during regular busi- ness hours.
