Heath will appear in the
United States Achievement
Academy Official Yearbook.
The criteria for selection are
a student's academic perform-

ance, interest and aptitude,
leadership qualities, responsi-
bility, enthusiasm, motivation
to learn and improve, citizen-
ship, attitude and cooperative
spirit, dependability, and rec-
ommendation from a teacher
or director. This award is a
prestigious honor very few stu-
dents can ever hope to attain.
In fact, the, Academy recog-
nizes less than 10% of all
American high school stu-
dents.
The City of Ramsey takes
great pride in acknowledging
Heath's achievement.

Support Group Project Wins Grant

!o-

Single female heads of
households must overcome
many barriers in order to at-
tend school. Barriers like
transportation, child care, tui-
tion costs, and time short-
ages.
Thanks to a joint project
sponsored by Anoka, Ramsey,
Washington, and Dakota
Counties JTPAs (Job Training
Partnership Act) their respec-
tive Vocational Technical In-
stitutes, and IN (Work Incen-
tive Program), some of these
barriers have been diminished.
Support groups for single
female heads of households
were established at 916 Vo
Tech in Ramsey County, the
Dakota County Vo Tech, and
Anoka Vo Tech, helping those
students raise their self-
esteem, providing a source of
encouragement, and increas-
ing their retention level.
