'
The Airport Commission
met on February 20 and the
Commission discussed
general comments received
from Metro Council, MnlDOT
al)d FAA regarding Ramsey's
Airport Master Plan. Some
concerns raised by these
agencies were Gateway
North's lack of expandability,
proximity to a landfill and the
fact that Gateway is not part of
the National Air Systems Plan
,nor the Metro Air Systems
Plan. It is the Commission
consensus that airport
development is dependent
upon Ramsey's commitment
to balanced industrial and
commercial development and
requested statements from
the Economic Development
Commission and City Council
stating whether or not com-
mercial and industrial develop-
ment is Ramsey's direction.
The Airport Commission,
met on March 27 and during
Citizen Input it was brought to
the Commission's attention
that there is some economic
b,uilding activity taking place
in the potentially affected air-
port zones and the Commis-'
sion pas~ed a motion to re-
quest that City Council notify
all existing landowners affect-
ed by ,the airport study of the
time frame established for the
Airport Master Plan study and
place a moratorium on any fur-
ther development within' the
limits of the Airport Improve-
ment Plan.
The Commission has receiv- '
ed formal responses to
Ramsey's final draft of the Air-
port Master Plan. FAA's
response was favorable. In which case, they can
be forty (40) feet from the front
property line.
3) Garages are limited in
size by the amount,of property
upon which they are to be
placed. The size breakdowns
are for less than 2.5 acres or
2.5 acres and more. For less
than 2.5 acres, the total allow-
able garage and/or accessory
building area is restricted to

824 square feet for attached
and 624 square for detached.
For 2.5 acres and more, the
total allowable garage and/or
accessory building area is re-
stricted to 864 square feet for
attached and 1200 square feet
for-detached. .
If the attached garage is or
will be larger than 864 square
feet, - then that excess is
deducted,from the total allow-
able detached garage and/or

accessory building area for
that particular piece of prop-
erty.
Should you wish to con-
struct a garage that exceeds
the size limitations or is locat-
ed such that it does not comp-
ly with the set back require-
ments, you may apply to the
Board of Adjustment for a
variance which does require a
public hearing. The fee is $90'

and is non-refundable. There
are no guarantees that any
variance will be approved and
each application is judged on
its own merit.
If you have any questions re-
garding these matters, please
feel free to call us at 427-1410.
If no'one is available that can
fully answer your questions,
we will return your calls as
soon as possible.

--

r
