<br />proposed Environmental Coordinator position will be funded 25% from the Recycling Fund and <br />75% from the Landfill Tipping Fee. Staff requests that the new wage for the Environmental <br />Coordinator position be set at $24.87/hour, which represents an increase of $.45/hour or $950 <br />annually. The Personnel Committee recommended the City Council accept the resignation of <br />Bruce Bacon and grant authorization to reclassify the Zoning/Recycling position as <br />recommended by staff. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Pearson, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Personnel Committee in Case No.2 and to adopt Resolution #06-11-367 <br />to accept the resignation of Environmental Specialist Bruce Bacon, grant authorization to <br />reclassify the Zoning/Recycling Coordinator position effective December 9, 2006 and set the <br />hourly wage at $24.87. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Cook, Pearson, Olson, and <br />Strommen. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmembers Elvig and Jeffrey. <br /> <br />3) Consider Ending Probationary Period for Parks Maintenance Worker <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Reed Kone stated on April 24th Michael Nielson was hired as a Park <br />Maintenance Worker. Mr. Nielson has successfully completed his six month probationary <br />period. It is the recommendation of staff and the Personnel Committee that Mr. Nielson be hired <br />as a full-time Parks Maintenance Worker. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cook stated it is important to go forward with this hire. This individual is not <br />only working for the Public Works and Parks Department, but will also be a firefighter. Mr. <br />Nielson is an exceptional young man that has done a great job during the time he has worked for <br />the City. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Personnel Committee in Case No.3 and to adopt Resolution #06-11-368 <br />to end the probationary period and hire Michael Nielson as a full-time Parks Maintenance <br />Worker. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Cook, Olson, Pearson, and <br />Strommen. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmembers Elvig and Jeffrey. <br /> <br />Case #8: Report from Finance Committee <br /> <br />1) Adopt Discretionary Expenditures Policy <br /> <br />Councilmember Strommen stated the Council reviewed a draft of the Discretionary Expenditures <br />Policy at a previous work session. The Finance Committee reviewed the policy and made the <br />suggestion for the following change: Volunteer Recognition Events removed from Item 3: <br />Special Events and added to Item 2: Recognition Events/Purchases (3). Item (3) under <br />Recognition Events/Purchases would become Item (4).
