<br />HAPPENINGS <br /> <br />RAMSEY JC'S <br /> <br />MEETING MAY 4TH <br />7:00P.M. <br />RAMSEY CITY HALL <br />MEETING MAY 17TH <br />7:00P.M. <br />JIMMY BIS DOWNSTAIRS <br /> <br />On Feb. 18th 1983, the Ramsey Area Jaycees <br />received their charter, and are now in full <br />swing. We held our charter-nite Banquet at <br />Greenhaven, and elected the Board members <br />for the year. <br />Dale McKnight - President <br />Steve Flynn - Individual Development Vice-Pres. <br />Will Dauge - Chpt Mgmt Vice-Pres. <br />Gary Hoffard - Community Dev. Vice-Pres. <br />Larry Anderson - State Delegate <br />Jim Martin - Secretary <br />Sharon Flynn - Treasurer <br /> <br />After only 3 months our chapter received it's <br />first award. "Most Promising Chapter of the <br />Quarter". And our President won the IINew Jay- <br />cee of the Quarter!! award. <br />The Jaycees offer to any individual, pro- <br />grams in the areas of Community Development, <br />Individual Development and Management. You <br />can meet new people and get involved in pro- <br />jects that interest you. The Jaycees are <br />Jedicated to having fun! <br />We will be holding a raffle the end of <br />April as our first fundraiser. <br />We hope to be working closely with the <br />Ramsey Lions in the area of Community Develop- <br />lent. <br />The first Co..unity Development Project was <br />to set up a sponsorship program available to <br />Ramsey Scout troops upon request - if your <br />troop needs a sponsor you can call Gary Hoffard <br />at 441-4683. <br />Ramsey Area Jaycees meet on the first Wednes- <br />day of the month at Ramsey City Hall at 7:00 <br />and the third Tuesday of the month at Jimmy <br />B's at 7:00. Fred Haas will also be present <br />to take blood pressure readings for anyone who <br />wishes. It's a fun time so be sure and come! <br /> <br />-Florence Stull <br /> <br />RACHEL <br /> <br />Some of you may have already seen or read <br />about Rachel and the transplant. For those <br />of you who have not, little Rachel received <br />her Bone Marrow transplant on Tuesday, April <br />5th. Her parents, Pat and Rick were very re- <br />leived that the infusion went very well. <br />Now it's another period of waiting ---waiting <br />to see if the transplant was a success for <br />Rachel. <br />Krista was discharged Wed. 6th being a <br />little sore and walking slow, she is doing <br />fine. <br />If anyone would like to send Rachel a card <br />you may mail to- Rachel Escalambre <br />c/o Univ. of Minn. They <br />become a 'Tiger Cub' so come and sign <br />up at Spring Round-Up. It gave the pack the budget that <br />is needed for the year. Prizes were given to <br />those selling the most candy. Thanks to all. <br />Nov. was roller skating. After a few hours <br />of spinning our wheels, we were off to <br />McDonalds for hamburgers & fries. <br />In Dec. we had a ball with bowling. There <br />were a few gutter valls, but lots of smiles. <br />The month of Jan. was full of crazy little <br />cars racing for the red line. The Pinewood <br />Derby was a sight to see. All different <br />shapes & colors gave the Cub Scouts a fun <br />filled day. Pack 376 had 3 Cub Scouts go to <br />District, they were: Damon Anderson, Chad <br />Ronnenbaum and Carl Perrin - alternates were <br />Harlan Ronneng and Dan Klingbeil. <br />Feb. brought us family fun on a sleigh ride <br />at Bunker Hills. Later, hot dogs & hot choc- <br />olate were provided. Plus Webelos Graduation on April <br />23rd and 24th - from Pack 376 Weboles gradu- <br />ating to Boy Scouts are: Steve Olson, John <br />Solberg, Brian Swander, Carl Perrin, Jamie <br />Iaquinto, Chris Schiferli, Keith Sperbeck, <br />Timothy Enfield -CONGRATULATIONS BOYS!!! <br />Get your tickets from Cub Scouts for the <br />"Scout Expo" drawing for a canoe and join us <br />at the Anoka Couty Fairgrounds and look over <br />the many displays the scouts will be setting <br />up. <br />Akela helps the Cub Scout grow - you can <br />help too! <br /> <br />-Don Young, Pack 376 Asst. Cubmaster <br /> <br />BOY SCOUTS <br /> <br />Boy Scout Troop 362, sponsored by the Ramsey <br />Lions, participated in the Annual Klondike <br />Derby at the Rum River Scout Camp. The boys <br />placed in many of the events some of which <br />were obstacle course, first aid,snbw sculp- <br />ture, and of course the Klondike Sled Race. <br />The Cobra Patrol won overall Championship for <br />the events. The Boy Scouts meet Regularly at <br />the Ramsey Elementary School.
