<br />sport 5 <br /> <br />wrest 11n9 <br /> <br />On Sunday February 13th, the 9th Annual <br />Snowflake Wrestling Tournament was held at <br />Coon Rapids Senior High School. <br />There were 200 to 250 boys who participated <br />from areas such as Anoka, Coon Rapids, St. <br />Francis, Cedar, Blaine, Mpls. and Prescott <br />wLsc .. <br />Each boy wrestled three times as places <br />were determined from 1st to 4th. All par- <br />tici~nts received ribbons. <br />Ramsey was represented by Matt Chester, a <br />sixth grader at Sandburg Middle School, who <br />won in the 95 pound division. Matt wrestles <br />for the Herakles Wrestling Club which prac- <br />tices at Northdale Jr. High on Tuesdays and <br />Thursdays at 6:30 pm. <br />The tournament was open to 3rd, 4th, 5th <br />and 6th graders. <br /> <br />GirlS +locneg <br /> <br />On Feb. 5th the Anoka Girls had their first <br />lose to Bloomington 5-2. Tracy Dahl did a <br />very good job as goalie. Allison Givens <br />scored the 2 points for Anoka. <br />Feb. 6th Anoka managed a win against Minne- <br />apolis West by a score of 4-3. Bridgett <br />Wolfe had a hat trick and Allisen Givens got <br />a goal. Sara Clouse did a very good job as <br />goalie. <br />On Feb. 14th Anoka and Bloomington met for <br />the third time. With each team sporting a <br />win it was a very important game for both <br />teams! Anoka won 6-3. Dina Hoel scored <br />along with Jill Peifer and Allisen Givens <br />had 4 goals. Goalie was Sara Clouse and she <br />did an outstanding job. <br />Feb. 19th Anoka beat Hopkins/Edina B-O. <br />Sheri Stringfellow was goalie and those <br />scoring were Wendi TheIl with 2 goals and 2 <br />assists, Bridgett Wolfe with 2 goals and 1 <br />assist, Dina Boel had 1 goal, Heidi Alsdurf <br />with her first goal of the season, Sara <br />Clouse made 1 goal and Allisen Givens 1 goal <br /> <br />Feb. 27th brought the last scheduled game <br />for the Anoka Girls and they went all out <br />and beat Minneapolis East 15-2. Donna <br />Bredemus was goalie and those scoring were: <br />Sheri Stringfellow for her first goal of tRe <br />season, Wendi TheIl with her third hat trick <br />of the season, Bridgett Wolfe with her se- <br />cond hat trick of the season and an extra <br />goal, Anne Mess had her first goal of the <br />season, Heidi Alsdurf 1 goal, Sara Clouse <br />with her first hat trick of the season and <br />Allisen Givens with 2 goals. <br />The Girls have finished the year with a <br />10-1 record and ended up in first place. <br /> <br />CON G RAT U L A T ION S G I R L S ! ! <br />* * * * * * * * * * * * <br /> <br />On March 27th the Anoka Area Girls will be <br />hosting a Pee Wee Hockey tournament at the <br />Anoka Arena from 2:30 until 9:45 pm.. They <br />will be playing a round robin of i an hour <br />games on a point system. Those teams in <br />the tournament are Bloomington, Edina/Hopkins <br />Minneapolis East, Minneapolis West and Anoka. <br />We invite everyone to the tournament, ad- <br />mission is free. Please come and see what <br />girls hockey is all about. Come and cheer <br />the Anoka Girls on" <br /> <br />sommer 5Dftba" <br /> <br />Registration for the RYAA boy's softball <br />league will be at the Ramsey Elementary School <br />on March 22nd and 24th, 6:30 - 8:00 pm.. <br />The league is open to boys living in Ramsey <br />who are now in grades 5-12. <br />Boy's registration is early because the <br />season will start earlier than the girl's <br />softball season. <br />You may also sign up for boy's softball, <br />(5th-12th grade, girl's softball (3rd-9th <br />grade), baseball (3rd - 9th grade), and soccer <br />(K-3rd grade) at the Pancake Breakfast on <br />March 27th. <br />For further information contact Jack <br />Beissel at 753-1041. <br /> <br />-Jack Beissel <br /> <br />softball <br /> <br />BOY'S SOFTBALL <br /> <br />The Ramsey Youth Athletic Association (RYAA) <br />will sponsor boy's softball for the first time <br />this summer. <br />The league will be formed with teams from <br />Champlin, Dayton, Anoka and Ramsey. <br />All games will be played at Champlin. <br />Because of the transportation problems in- <br />volved with the games in Champlin, the teams <br />will be selected by neighborhood. <br />Teams will be made up of 5-6th grade boys, <br />7-8-9th grade boys and 10-11-12th grade boys. <br />The season will start in mid-May and end by <br />the 4th of July. <br />Registration fee will be $15. <br />Registration will be held the week before <br />the pancake breakkfast and during the pan- <br />cake breakfast - March 27th. <br />You may register now by filling out the <br />form below and calling Jack Beissel, 753-1041, <br />for pick-up. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />HOUSe, ~ague <br /> <br />BLACK HAWKS <br />Ramsey Mites-House League <br />Ice Action <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 7, 1983 <br /> <br />The Ramsey Blackhawks suffered a 4-3 loss <br />to the C.D. Canadians in an exciting game. <br />The Champlin-Dayton team took the lead 2-0, <br />but the Blackhawks made a come back and tied <br />the score 2-2. We couldn't hold them though <br />as they scored two more goals. Jason Rein- <br />holz was able to put the puck in the net <br />for our third goal giving him the hat trick <br />for the night. Scott Martinson was our <br />goalie of the night. He did a great job <br />clearing the puck. <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 17, 1983 <br /> <br />Ramsey Blackhawks met the Ramsey Mapleleafs <br />for a 3-2 win. The Leafs took the lead in <br />the game play, but the Hawks were able to <br />come back with a strong play by Mike Pozega <br />as he skated the puck in from the red line <br />to make our first goal. We made the win with <br />the two goals made by Jason Reinholz. Our <br />goilie for the game, Dean Karlsen, had a <br />strong game along with all of the other <br />playet'.s . <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 22, 1983 <br /> <br />The Ramsey Blackhawks faced off against the <br /> <br />Ramsey Rangers in a fantastic tie game. The <br />Rangers held the lead when Scott Martinson <br />took the puck from the blue line aile!-- put it <br />in the net for our first goal. The RanQers <br />kept their lead until Jason Reinholz was able <br />to put the puck in the net with only two min <br />utes left in the game giving the Hawks a 2-2 <br />tie.
